To apply for an STG faculty grant, you should fill out the application form cover sheet and
submit it to STG, along with a detailed project proposal, by
the deadline. Proposals should be no longer than five pages and
should cover the following:
-the project's content and goals
-the role of technology in achieving the project's aims
-practical requirements of the project (equipment, labor, timeline)
To assist faculty in formulating their proposals, STG
staff will be available for one-on-one consulting in
March and April. To sign up for a meeting, please come to the general
information session (several weeks before the application
deadline), or contact STG at 863-7231
or STG_info@brown.edu.
Funding for the faculty grants program comes from CIS through STG's
budget. The grants are primarily intended to cover STG staff time and
the costs of production for the project (for instance, transcription
or conversion of data). In certain cases, the purchase of equipment
not already available through STG may be included; in such cases, the
equipment remains the property of CIS. If you have questions about particular
situations, please contact STG. The following are not covered by the
faculty grants program:
Student research assistants (except STG employees)
Computer purchases for faculty
Faculty release time
Travel
Intellectual property costs (e.g. permissions)
