STG is collaborating with the American Committee for South Asian Manuscripts (ACSAM) to develop a prototype Union Descriptive Catalogue of several thousand South and West Asian manuscripts now in North American collections. STG has worked with ACSAM staff to develop a DTD for the descriptive bibliography of South Asian manuscripts and to prototype a Web delivery system for the data using the DynaWeb application. Ongoing work on the project includes refining the DTD and experimenting with the delivery of accented and non-roman fonts on the Web and with multilingual text retrieval
ACSAM was founded in 1995 under the auspices of the American Oriental Society to promote the preservation and use of manuscripts of South Asian origin in North American collections.
