Computers and the Humanities Users Group

STG lead(s): Elli Mylonas, Allen Renear

STG organizes and hosts meetings of the Computers and the Humanities Users Group (CHUG), an occasional seminar on topics of interest to the humanities computing community. CHUG began its life as a users group, but has evolved into a locus for discussion of the intersection of technology, research, the humanities, the arts, media and communication, and computer science. An almost complete list of announcements of CHUG talks and speaker biographies is maintained online.

The Computers and the Humanities Users Group (CHUG) has been active since 1986 as a forum for discussing the use of computers in the humanities and for sharing ideas and information about computing techniques and applications. CHUG\'s open talks and discussions are presented by members of the Brown University community as well as scholars and researchers from a broad range of other institutions and organizations.
