Clyde Davenport

Clyde Davenport Home Page  http://www.stg.brown.edu/projects/davenport/

Clyde Davenport is an old-time fiddler and banjo player from south-central Kentuck y. In 1990, Brown University ethnomusicologist Jeff Titon recorded music and interviews with Mr. Davenport and his family. He then created a hypertext, multimedia Hypercard stack with links to brief essays about Davenport's music and fellow musicians, photographs, and recordings of several of Davenport's tunes.

As a demonstration of the capabilities of the Web, Geoffrey Bilder converted the Hypercard stack to HTML in 1995, including the sound and image files. STG still hosts the Clyde Davenport project as a website.

This is an example of a very early web project.
