Directions to CHUG in the CIT
CHUG meetings sometimes take place in the CIT building (Thomas J. Watson Center for Information Technology), at the corner of Waterman and Brook Streets, in the Swig Board Room (Room 241).
From the North
- 95 South, through Providence (past the State House) to 195 East. Note that the exit is to the left.
- Follow directions from 195 East.
From the South
- 95 North, to 195 East. This is before you enter Providence, and after the oil tanks on the right.
- Follow directions from 195 East.
From 195 East
- Exit 2 on 195 East, called Wickenden St. Exit.
- Left onto Wickenden St. as you come off the exit. You should be going under the highway overpass. If you find yourself going over a bridge, you are going in the wrong direction. Make a U Turn as soon as possible.
- Left onto Brook St. at the second light. You will see Atomic Appliance on the corner.
- Continue for 7 blocks. Start noticing when you pass Benevolent St. You should try to park within the next 2 blocks. The street after Benevolent is George, and the one after that is Waterman, (there is a light at the corner).
From 195 West
- Take the Gano St. exit (This is the first Providence exit. Be careful, it is a quick merge.)
- Go right as you come off the exit onto Gano St.
- Take a right at the flashing light (six blocks). This is Power St.
- Go up Power St. for 5 blocks (counting streets that are not through streets).
- Take a right onto Brook St.
- Continue for 2 blocks. Start noticing when you pass Benevolent St. You should try to park within the next 2 blocks. The street after Benevolent is George, and the one after that is Waterman, (there is a light at the corner).
Once You've Parked
- There is a walkway in the middle of the block between George and Waterman Streets. (Opposite it is a stub of a street with university parking on it.). Go up the walkway. The CIT building is the large angular one on the right, with the long ramp. It's labeled.
- The Board Room is on the second floor. Head for the corner of the building diagonally across from the entrance door.
