One of the goals of the authors of the Open eBook specification was to make it as easy as possible to convert existing HTML content to Open eBook format. This process can't be performed in a completely automatic fashion (particularly in the case of more sophisticated documents), but there are few suggestions and tools we can offer:

• If you are starting with HTML, and would like to convert it to OEB format, run your HTML first through HTML Tidy
• If necessary, run it through STG's ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8 form
• Finally, prepend the appropriate XML and OEB DOCTYPE declarations

While this won't get you all the way, it'll get you most of the way...
