Bill McIver is a Senior Scientist at STG
and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department
of Computer Science at
Brown University.
Bill's work at STG involves advanced document encoding
technologies such as SGML, XML and the Open eBook Publication Structure.
He is involved with the Women Writers and
Open eBook Validator
projects.
Bill's current research focus is in the areas of social
informatics, telemedicine, and digital government.
His research looks at issues of access to information and
information technologies, human rights frameworks for
communication, and information use.
His background is in database integration,
telecommunications, agent-based systems and software reusability.
Bill has a B.A. degree from Morehouse College in
Computer Science, an M.S. degree in Information and Computer
Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D degree in Computer
Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
